Are you wondering about tarot readings? Should you go for a tarot reading or learn tarot?
To get started on your tarot journey let's go over why someone would purchase a tarot reading or why someone would decide to learn tarot.
There are many reasons why someone would go for a tarot reading. Some people save a tarot reading for big occasions and others make it a part of their self-care or spiritual life.
What are some of these big occasions?
Making big decisions such as a career move
Making a location change
Making a big purchase
Breaking off a relationship
Becoming engaged
How do people use tarot as part of their spiritual process?
Review of decisions made
Finding clarity in a situation such as a relationship
Finding why certain goals have been difficult to achieve
Connection to the higher self
To make us more aware of the events and people around us.
To get in touch with the ancestors
Tarot can help us be more connected to the present and help us be more grounded. By being more aware of what is going on around us, we are more present. The more present we are in our daily lives, the better we are at handling our relationships and decision-making. People who are more present in their lives tend to worry less. When we worry less, we can practice gratitude and enjoy the people we care about. Less worry also means less anxiety.
So how does a tarot reading session help?
It is important to note that Tarot Reading for yourself and others is an energy healing modality and is metaphysical, therefore, it is not meant to be and shouldn’t replace any medical advice from a medical doctor or licensed therapist i.e. psychologist, physiotherapist, etc. Tarot reading and other energy healing modalities are meant to be part of a holistic approach to your well-being.
Tarot is Beautiful
Tarot cards are filled with beautiful images, colours and symbols. The images and the artwork are attractive and very inspiring. The artwork in tarot decks inspires ideas and ignites our intuition. Tarot decks are created with great thought so that the images, archetypes and numerology depicted on the cards create messages. Tarot readers call this the tarot language see: https://www.margostarot.com/post/tarot-language-reading-the-cards
My clients find a lot of comfort in the archetypes in tarot and having a professional walk them through the meanings of each archetype along with other symbols and numerology is a wonderful way to get a “bird’s eye view” of their situation.
Self-Discovery and Self Reflection
Tarot allows us to step back from worry, anger and other negative energy to look at our situation from different angles. We see how we contribute to a situation. We also see what thought patterns and other behavioural patterns we are not aware of. What are we doing or thinking that is standing in the way of our achievements? Tarot readers will use the cards to look for messages that will help a client learn their options in a non-judgmental way. It should be noted that tarot readings are for useful information, and it’s not meant to “instruct or tell” a client what to do. The information gathered in a tarot reading is meant to empower a client to make his/her/their decisions, and that your client has options.
Making Important Decisions
In life, we can find ourselves at a crossroads where we have to make a decision. For example, if you find yourself needing to change your career or job. These are tough decisions that have lasting effects, so you want to make sure you have covered every aspect of your situation. This is where a tarot reading can help you understand:
Why you feel you need to make this choice
What events brought you to the point that made you feel you need a change/
Are there people influencing your decision?
Are there people that can help you or hinder your decisions?
What are the things that are holding you back?
What are some of the things that you need to work on or what needs to be taken care of before you make that decision?
Are there patterns i.e. habits or thoughts that are blocking your decision-making?
You Are Stuck in A Rut
When you have a goal, but it seems unreachable it’s frustrating. What is holding you back? When you are working towards something you seem to be hitting all the roadblocks. So, what is going on? Having someone help you go through your situation with a tarot card reading can help you:
Understanding or confirming why you set your goal.
What are some of the things that you need to accomplish first?
What events, and current/upcoming tasks are standing in the way of your goal?
Who are the people influencing you? Are you connecting with the right people?
You Are Ready to Make a Decision
If someone is ready to make a big decision, why would they want to go to a tarot reader? You haven’t made that leap yet, but going to a tarot reading can help you to check your “blind spots”. What are these “blind spots”?
Challenges you need to face because of a decision
Who are the people you will face?
Do I have any supporters who I can count on?
Who is influencing me?
What recent events are influencing me?
You Want to Get in Touch with Your Ancestors
There are reasons why we do the things we do and reasons why we fall into patterns that are not helpful to us. A Tarot Reader who is a healer and incorporates other modalities into their readings such as crystal healing, reiki or oracle readings will help you understand how our ancestors can influence our lives today. When we heal, we heal our ancestors too.
When Not To Get A Tarot Reading
Although tarot readings are helpful and fun, there are times when I believe that it’s not
appropriate to go to a reading:
When you are in an emotional crisis. When your emotions are in overdrive you will be unable to hear the messages from the Tarot. Wait until you are calm.
When you want a specific outcome. Tarot gives options and lets you know where your path is leading. You need to be ready to hear what the cards have to tell you
Impatience: Tarot readings shouldn’t be rushed
Under the influence i.e. you have consumed alcohol. This makes for clouded judgment
Reasons To Get A Tarot Reading and To Learn Tarot
Whatever your reasons for going to a tarot reader make sure it’s your decision and it’s something you want to do. A tarot reader should be knowledgeable about tarot. Does the tarot reader have a blog or published work supporting their tarot knowledge claim? It is also important that you don’t feel scared or pressured into purchasing a tarot reading. Ensure you can afford the reading and if the price of a tarot reading is within or beyond your budget.
Also, a tarot reader should never frighten you. If you meet a tarot reader who claims that you are cursed or need to purchase additional readings to heal or remove a curse, it’s a scam. It’s your decision if you want to return to a tarot reader for future readings. I believe that curses are hoaxes and it’s unethical to tell someone they are cursed. Tarot readings are meant to empower and give options. Tarot readings do not seal the fate of others. We have the power and the will to make our own decisions and tarot reading is a beautiful modality to include in a holistic approach to our well-being.
