The Third Eye Chakra: Door to our Sixth Sense, Wisdom, Intuition

Updated: Mar 4, 2022

Our sixth chakra is also known as the Third Eye Chakra and sometimes referred to as the Brow Chakra. This is our inner eye or in Sanskrit: “Anja”. This associates with our mental abilities, emotional intelligence and how we incorporate our beliefs in our everyday lives.

The location of Anja or the Third eye Chakra is just above and between our eyebrows on our forehead. This connects to the brain and pineal glands. Our psyche resonates with this chakra. The energy of both our subconscious and conscious resonates with the Third Eye Chakra.

When our prana, the life force energy, is balanced and moving freely through our Third Eye Chakra, we are aware of our thoughts and our thoughts are clear. We are conscious of what is happening around us and others. We know our thoughts are clear because our mind is open, and decisions are not motivated by fear, anxiety, or anger. This includes being aware of the energy that comes with people, places, and events. We understand how our wisdom (our lessons learned from past including mistakes) can guide us through our lives.

When our mind is open, we have learnt to get away from the illusions and see truth and know what truth is. There is a “knowing” of what truth is that comes from within ourselves, and this is our intuition.

Our third eye Chakra holds memories, facts, experiences which all have an energy. Being open minded can hold what are true memories and experiences and this becomes our wisdom. Wisdom is valuable to living a healthy life. For example: if we are told that we have to hold to a certain physical appearance that is beautiful to current society such as an ideal body shape, we may develop an unhealthy self image if we can't hold ourselves up to that socially accepted body shape. We develop all kinds of unhealthy thought forms such body dysmorphia which can lead to eating disorders. Understanding that current society’s view of what body image is beautiful is not what true beauty is. . It’s knowing that beauty comes from within. It’s knowing that glamour and fashion is fun but not true beauty. After all, glamour in it’s true definition is enchantment or magic with the ability to make things SEEM beautiful. Our Third eye Chakra, when it’s balanced, sees beauty in truth.

When our prana, that vital life force, is not flowing through our Third Eye Chakra, because either there is too much (stagnant) or too little (blocked), we can be affected physically and emotionally in the following ways:

  • Experience headaches/migraines, brain tumor

  • Eye aches

  • Glaucoma and other eye issues i.e. cataracts

  • Learning disabilities

  • Deafness

  • Nervousness

  • Anxiety

  • Dizziness

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Lack of awareness i.e. common sense, logic

  • Lack of memory

  • Bad dreams

  • Lacking imagination

  • Unclear and scattered thoughts

  • Unclear and scattered thoughts

  • Body dysmorphia (unable to see and understand true beauty) nd can lead to eating disorders

  • Unable to see truth i.e. denial and fear of acknowledging truth which plays into fear.

  • Inability to use visualization

To help balance our Third eye Chakra so that we can have clear thoughts, imagination, and greater memory it is important to practice healthy eating, activities and self-care to keep us balanced: meaning to bring our physical body, our mind and spirit in alignment.
